The latest version of Elfa Hang Standards features one to three 5mm diameter circular through-holes on the front face of the product, typically located in the lower half. These holes can be useful in certain configurations to provide lateral stability in the lower sections of an assembly. However, it is crucial to note that these through-holes are NOT load-bearing features. The top track carries all the structural load-bearing responsibility in an Elfa system.
If you are using older, discontinued versions of the Hang Standards, you can easily recognise them as they do not have these circular through-holes. It is very important not to mix old and new Hang Standards within the same unified assembly, as this can cause shelves to sit unevenly and potentially damage gliding components.
