At Organise Space, we have designed and installed numerous laundry and utility spaces. Laundry design requires skill and experience in small spaces, we have years and years of experience in designing for small domestic spaces. Elfa offers excellent products to help keep your laundry organized and functional. Here are our top five recommendations:
- Wall-Mounted Drying Racks: If your laundry room is short on space, a fold-down drying shelf is an excellent choice. It can accommodate many garments and, when not in use, can be folded down onto the wall, taking up minimal space. Easy to mount directly on hang standards, Elfa offers two sizes: 600mm wide (part number Elfa 493510) and 900mm wide (part number Elfa 493610).
2. Elfa’s Over-the-Door Range: Elfa’s over-the-door products can be used creatively in a laundry design beyond their intended purpose. We have used them to create compact bin storage, organizing stain removers, detergents, conditioners, brushes, and cloths. 3. Holders and Hooks: Elfa offers a wide range of hooks and holders in various shapes and sizes. In a laundry setting, we typically recommend their heavy-duty products designed to fit on a “utility track,” which is a rigid aluminium rail where hooks and holders can be easily clipped in different positions. Elfa also provides hooks, holders, and tubs for smaller objects. This link is a good starting point to explore their range: https://www.organisespace.com/utility-track/
4. Surfaces and Shelves: A dedicated laundry area can be damp and humid, but Elfa has products that can withstand such environments. They offer a worksurface and reversible shelf trays made from pressed steel. Additionally, the traditional white shelf is available, but we do not recommend using melamine or solid shelves in most environments. We have also made our own shelves from moisture-resistant MDF to fit on Elfa metal works. We specify these in any laundry design where moisture is present.
5. Elfa Drawer System: Like many spaces in a home, a laundry room might benefit from the convenience of drawers without the cost, weight, and bulk of a chest of drawers. Elfa’s drawer system is the solution, offering robust drawers with a ten-year warranty. They can be customized to suit your specific needs, whether for organizing clothing, cleaning products, or miscellaneous items.
