Elfa storage solutions offer the perfect balance of functionality and flexibility, making them ideal for family homes. In this project, I designed tailored storage systems for a children’s room and a master bedroom. These solutions prioritise practical organisation while addressing architectural constraints. Watch the full walkthrough below…
Key Features for the Children’s Room
- Toy Storage
- A mix of gliding wire baskets, basket shelves with transparent dividers, and flat shelves provides versatile options.
- Choose between durable wire baskets or mesh baskets to prevent small toys, like Lego, from falling through.
- Clothes Storage
- Adjustable hanging rails are set at child-friendly heights for easy access.
- Medium-depth 180mm mesh gliding baskets offer optimal storage for children’s clothing.
- Optional flat shelves are perfect for folded clothes or added organisation.
- Dual-Use Solutions
- Space-saving hanging options for clothes and toys.
- Portable baskets allow for convenient room-to-room tidying or playtime use.
Key Features for the Master Bedroom
- Clothing Organisation
- A large basket for bulky items, like woollens, paired with three medium-height mesh gliding baskets for everyday clothing.
- Hanging rails are positioned to maximise recessed areas in the wardrobe.
- Adaptable Storage
- While hanging is prioritised, the design supports adding shelves for folded items or accessories if needed.
Practical Considerations
- Basket Depths: Opt for 180mm baskets for children’s clothes; deeper baskets may be cumbersome, while shallow ones limit capacity.
- Architectural Challenges: Existing voids are cleverly addressed with thoughtful Elfa configurations, ensuring no space is wasted.
